The following additional services may be requested for an extra fee:

Additional services—piecework

 

• Interventions on figures and tables:  add 0.25% of the base price per figure or table requested to the total cost.

(e.g., for 4 Figures and 3 Tables, and a base price of 1000 (RMB or $CAD), add (1000 × (7 × 0.0025)) = 17.5)

This service is INCLUDED with Advanced editing.

**An “intervention” ranges anywhere from indication of need for correction/revision in a figure or table in the case of a non-editable format (e.g. the figure/table has been provided in a PPT or PDF) to direct editing of the figure/table if provided in an editable format.

• Reference formatting:  add 0.25% of the base price per cited reference to the total cost.

(e.g. for 30 references, and a base price of 1000 RMB, add (1000 × (30 × 0.0025)) = 75 RMB)

This service is INCLUDED with Elite editing.

**The client must provide a complete reference list.

​

• Verification of facts, quotes, and references:  add 0.5% of the base price per verified source to the total cost.

(e.g. for 10 sources verified, and a base price of 1000 RMB, add (1000 × (10 × 0.005)) = 50 RMB)

This service is INCLUDED with Advanced editing.

**The client must provide a complete reference list and indicate which other sources need to be verified.

Additional services—fixed fee

 

• Difficult edit modifier: add 25% of the base price to the total cost if the client has not requested either Advanced or Elite editing, but the base English level of the manuscript is sufficiently poor that a native English speaker cannot easily understand it, or the manuscript has significant structural problems that need extensive intervention. Alternatively, the client may request an upgrade to at least Advanced level.

(e.g., for a base price of 1000 RMB, the additional fee is 250 RMB)

**This is at the recommendation of the editor after a comprehensive assessment.

• Figure/table composition:  add to the total cost:

25 RMB | $6 CAD for each table requested

               125 RMB | $28 CAD for each figure requested

(e.g. for composition of 4 figures and 3 tables, add ((4 × 125) + (3 × 25)) = 575 RMB)

This service is INCLUDED with Elite editing.

**”Composition” differs from “intervention” in that the editor produces the figure/table from provided data. The client must provide the data needed.

**These prices apply regardless of the complexity of the figure or table.

• Real-time video conference with editor:  the client may have a video conference with the editor in order to go over and clarify changes to the manuscript. 

For Light or Regular editing:  Add 100 RMB | $22 CAD per requested conference to the total cost.

For Advanced editing:  the first conference is INCLUDED, and add 100 RMB | $22 CAD for each subsequent conference.

For Elite editing:  the first THREE conferences are INCLUDED, and add 100 RMB | $22 CAD for each subsequent conference.

 

**For clients in China:  video conferences are over Tencent Meeting/VooV.

**For other countries:  any video conference software which is not blocked in that country and permits screen sharing (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, TeamViewer, Skype) may be used.

**There is no time limit. The price is the same regardless of the length of the conference.

**This pricing also applies to plain text chat if video contact is infeasible.

• Post-editing: the client may pay in advance for post-editing if they anticipate that the manuscript will require further editing (e.g., for revisions). If post-editing is desired:

 

For Light/Regular:  add 100 RMB | $22 CAD per additional editing round to the total cost.

For Advanced editing:  ONE round of FREE post-editing is included, and add 100 RMB | $22 CAD per additional editing round.

For Elite editing:  THREE rounds of FREE post-editing are included, and add 100 RMB | $22 CAD per additional editing round.

 

Pre-paid post-editing is good for up to 1 year after the initial submission.

 

For Advanced and Elite editing, post-editing is free under the following conditions:  the number of rewritten or added words must be within 500 words of the previous edited version, and the amount of modified content must be less than or equal to 30% of the previous edited version. If modifications are so extensive (e.g., a major revision requested by reviewers) that they exceed these conditions, a previously edited manuscript will be treated as a new submission and charged accordingly.
